Our truck was totaled but it has after market parts on it.
If we remove those parts what happens with the insurance company's valuation on it? Basically, the truck was purchased with stock CD player and running boards. We bought aftermarket parts to replace the stock parts with and got rid of the stock parts. I heard that in order to take the aftermarket parts, we would need to replace them with stock again. Unfortunately we do not have those and I don't want to buy them just to keep the aftermarket parts. What can I do? Can I take the CD player and running boards? What will happen if I do? Would it be worth it for me to leave them on?

It depends on the part..do NOT remove ANYTHING without first talking to the adjuster. It can (most of the time) reduce the value..Basically the truck was purchased with stock CD player and running boards. We bought aftermarket parts to replace the stock parts with and got rid of the stock parts. I heard that in order to take the aftermarket parts, we would need to replace them with stock again.
Or lose what those options add to the value (if any).Unfortunately we do not have those and I don't want to buy them just to keep the aftermarket parts. What can I do?
Talk to the adjuster..Can I take the CD player and running boards?
Removing the CD player without putting something in there will definately result in a substantial deduction..
Would it be worth it for me to leave them on?
What is the year/make/model and options? I'll check and see if the running boards add value. If they do not ask the adjuster if they manually added value for them..if the value is small ask if you can remove them ..Posted: Thu Oct 01, 2009 02:47 am Post Subject:
