can we claim on building insur if our roof needs repairing

we need to have the roof our the building that our flat is in and the freeholder has said that it is going to cost about £10,000 to get it done, can we not clain this on the buildings insurance as the leak has also damaged some of the timbers that hold the roof up.

I would think so...is this a condo, or apt? What type of insurance do you have? renters? condo? homeowners? What has the owner of the building said?

I'd be more interested to know about this leak and how it could have been caused. I guess you can collect it from the building insurance if it has been caused due to natural disturbances. I don't know whether you may claim it on the same, if it was irresponsibly caused by any of the inmates. Lets see what the others have to say in this regard.

I agree. The cause of the leak maybe a factor. It probably will be.
