dv claim

had 19k in damages on my suv. State farm is the 3rd party ins. They have paid the repair and have said they will pay the depreciation in the car. I have 2 estimates indicating 7k and 9k in decreased value from local dealers. What types of offers should I accept?

Neither. You need to hire a public adjuster or adjusting firm to complete the dv appraisal. Shop estimates are just that, an estimate. You need have all aspects of the vehicle and it's damages evaluated. This would include severity of the damage(s), parts that were replaced and their criteria etc. The insurance company will have a hay day with those estimates and your settlement will be drastically reduced. Get the DOI (Department of Insurance) involved. Doing so will give viable results. In most of the DV claims I have handled, DOI involvement speeds up the settlement processes. And since this is beyond what most insurance staffers handle on a day to day basis, you can bet that the carrier will likely settle the amount quickly. Do not hire an attorney, waste of time.
