What is I only want recoverable depreciation on a portion of the claim. i.e, paint was cheaper than
claim allowed for. However, countertops more. If I did the painting myself, can I still get the recoverable depreciation on the countertops? If I have the receipts for them or would I have to show receipts for all?

After I send the check to the mortgage co, who does this check go to me or the contractor need to know please.
If you have not signed the check only you can cash it. Did you sign it? None the less, call the mortgage company and let them know what the situation is.Posted: Wed Sep 14, 2011 06:39 pm Post Subject: his to recover the depreciation portion insurance held back

First, please start a new thread if its a new question.
Your policy only owes replacement cost if you replace the items. If they afre not replaced then you have been paid the depreciated amount already.
If you are saying that you cannot afford the difference up front then use all of the money paid to replace one or more items. Get paid the difference on those items. Rinse and repeat.

If you did not own the property at the time of the loss, you have no insurable interest, and cannot collect anything.

Ask your insurance company.

Not until the work is completed and the proof of loss (the total bill) is presented. And even then, the work must be restorative, not an enhancement of any kind (other than as may be required by law, and even that must be covered by an Ordinance and Law provision in your policy).

I am trying to figure out how to get my depreciation however I used an unlicensed contractor for some of the work (someone I knew that I was trying to help out by giving him some work). Does the insurance company check on the license status and if so, do they deduct from the depreciation the portion that the unlicensed contractor performed?
My licensed contractor (who did most of the work) is willing to show the total cost of the work on his final paperwork for me, because I do not communicate with the unlicensed guy anymore and I need to show the total cost of the job. I have the receipts for materials, etc. Will that be an issue?
