Probably, unless there is a specific exclusion in your policy that excludes damage caused by the insured.

If you have a set perils policy (which only covers specific listed events) you could have trouble, but most household covers allow for accidental damage type cover (which covers anything, unless specifically excluded provided the event fits their definitiion of accidental). Accidental damage generally includes any physical damage cause by an unforseen, unexpected event which could not reasonably have been prevented.

As with all matters of cover, the ultimate answer is "check your policy" but unless there's something in there which excludes damage by the insured (which would include your wife), or the damage was malicious/intentional in nature, you should be ok.

If your wife is at fault then your auto insurance would address the loss. The home owner could file a claim under their HO policy and their carrier would seek recovery from you/your auto carrier.
