I'm going to make a guess..(posted under auto claims)...If you've had a car fire, and the fire started from a faulty issue in the car (let's say bare wires)..the cause of the fire would've been mechanical failure, thus not covered HOWEVER, the resulting fire damage is covered. Just not the cause/sourse.
