Please let me know if you're looking for the guidelines concerning a particular state. There are some states wherein the deductible for windshield replacement is waived.

I don't know of any state guide lines...are you talking about failing inspections? what exactly is it that you want to know?

I believe you are looking for failing an inspection. All states will require a repair or replacement if there is a defect in the drivers line of site during an inspection. We just went through this with my wife's car. She had a nickle sized star that could not be repaired so we had to replace it in order for her to get a pass.

I had a leased vehicle that got hit by a rock with a 1 inch crack. Progressive sent a person out to repair and you could still see the crack. I called Progressive an explained that I would be charged when I turned in the lease and they sent someone back out and replaced the windshield. I had to pay the 100 deductible the second time, but it was still cheaper then what the leasing company would have charged.

Normally if you push for a replacement it will get replaced but you will have to pay the deductible.

I had a chip and (fine) crack, 3/4's the length of a dollar repaired (60 bucks) and passed inspection...I'm sure it comes down to, who repairs, and who inspects..
