I would like a lot of freedom to run my own branch and pay my agents what I want to pay them. I do see many ads From Farmers saying "own your own business". But... I do not want to be captive. I want to be able to offer different providers to the customer. I would like to be part of a larger company that can offer support. Any ideas?

So, all you want to do is to work under an independent agent! That's probably the only way I think I could introduce policies from different carriers to my prospective customers. In order to do so, I'd simply check out and compare the success rate of some of the notable independent agencies in my locality.
