My friend was a witness to an accident and did not get a ticket at the scene of the crime. After investigation the police officer came to the conclusion by witness that she had been speeding and possible caused another person to wreck. They called her in to give a written statement of the event and at that time gave a ticket for wreckless driving and post dated it to a week ago, and made her sign it....is this legal?

Yep. The investigating officer has 30 days to file the citation.

You could try going to court, but will likely pay even more in court fees and ect. Looks like the police have a good case, unfortunately.

Sure it is...she likely will have to appear in court anyway..(most jurisdictions require appearances for tickets that resulted in an accident) at that time she can chose to plead guilty or not..
