What is covered under "loss of wages"?

My place of employment suffered a fire. I have been informed of a clause in our insurance relating to paying employees for loss of wages. I have been asked to be a part of the clean up crew from the fire, and have been told that the insurance will be paying for my work. I am wondering if I should be paid, however, by my company directly, for the work that I will be performing, and be paid separately under the insurance provision, for my regular job, that I will not be able to perform.
Thanks for any and all information that you can provide me with.

The wages you would have been paid for the time you were out of work, or in your case a place to work.

If you want to work for free, thats your choice. You be paid by the insurance provision provided by your employers carrier.

I'd have to see this policy to be able to intelligently answer your question. Has anyone explained to you exactly how this works? As well as the rate you'll be paid?
