I need a lawyer to help me draft a letter and potentially sue my pet insurance company. I have heard - and have anecdotal evidence - that when consumers have good cases, insurance companies will often settle after the first steps of legal action are taken as the costs of litigation can be high. So they generally prefer to ignore complaints by customers, settle good legal cases, and take to closing bad legal cases (to discourage future litigation). This makes intuitive sense. I have an excellent case and just need someone to make them listen.
I can explain the details to the lawyer, but at this point just wanted to see if anybody had used an affordable lawyer for such purposes?

To have one just write a letter and not be involved in your settlement, you will need to pay one their hourly rate. Depending on the state and city you live, the range could vary greatly. (I've work with some that range from $100 to $500+ an hour which they will/could charge you for the phone call, letter writing, their assistant's time) You could do a little research on line (for wording) and send the letter yourself....with an explanation that you will be pursuing legal action if you claim is not settled...... Give them X amount of time to respond. If they don't respond or still deny, then get the hourly letter from an attorney. Can't hurt and its free (minus your time, paper, ink and postage.) There is also small claims.
