s it possible to collect unemployment insurance in Californi

I'm currently collecting unemployment insurance from state of California and I'm considering taking a short term (3-6 months) contract. I do intend to work 40 hours a week when I'm on a contract. At the end of the contract term(when I'm between contracts), do I still qualify for unemployment benefits. The EDD website has no information on this nor will the folks at EDD answer this question clearly.
