I live in kent in a semi detatched house with a flat roof which is seven years old and was informed that they last 10 years the roof is in very good condition but we had a lot of very bad weather last year strong winds and heavy rainfall and now have just had very cold weather and a lot of snow we have now started to have water leaking from the ceiling and downstairs in our kitchen am i covered by my buildings insurance.

It really depends on the type of policy you have. The interior water damage should be covered. If there is no actual damage to the roof they would pay nothing for the roof. If there is damage, it depends on what type of damage. Since the damage to the roof may have happened over several storms coverage becomes more difficult.

I disagree Das...If that roof isn't damaged by a peril, and rather gradual deterioration..In most policys I've read, she won't have coverage for that interior damage either..

OP, it comes down to 'why' the roof is leaking..hopefully there's a big old hole, or rip or gash up there...most certainly turn in the claim.

Let us know what your carrier says after they inspect it.

I guess I was thinking ice damming claim as she mentioned cold weather (snow/ice). Really depends on the policy and the reason for the damage.

. Your favorite jiscifitatuon seemed to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people consider worries that they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
