I fell at hotel in the stairway due to inadequate lighting. The lighting did not cover the landing or last step, which cause me to miss it. I'm trying to figure out who I should contact to pay the ER costs. The bills are quite low and I'm able to pay the full amount, but would like to be reimbursed for the medical bills involved on that day. I don't forsee any future medical bills. I'll probably have some problems walking for awhile, but in time I should be a back to my old self. Should I contact the hotel directly to see how they will handle this? I would like to avoid using an attorney as I feel this is a simple claim for insurance to cover on behalf of the property owner. What is your advice at this point?

Yes, they should either turn in a claim to their carrier or give you the information. I'm hoping you reported this to them when it happened?I would like to avoid using an attorney as I feel this is a simple claim for insurance to cover on behalf of the property owner. Definately contact the manager at the hotel. If you didn't report it at the time of the fall there may be some problems, unless there were cameras, or witnesses maybe?Posted: Tue Jan 19, 2010 03:03 am Post Subject:
Lori's got the right of it here. Speak directly with Hotel Management and get the claim process underway.
