I own a 2002 Honda Civic LX sedan with 68K miles. A GEICO insured driver was at fault and hit me, causing $3,600 worth of damage. I do have the time to fight this if it is possible. I a willing to pay for an appraisal even IF it means I will get a little bit out of it after the appraisal is paid. I already went to three Honda dealerships and got 'voucher slips,' of the cost of the car they would pay prior to the accident and after the accident. Thank you for your help and advice.

Yeah, you have that option. I would be looking up some adjusters in you area that handle DV claims.

Third party...yep, what state are you in so we can check and make sure there isn't a regulation that sets the calculation formula, and/or any other little 'hick ups' that pertain to your states handling of DV.

ok, found it..(thank heavens for 'history')
Ohio-Third-party diminished value claim.
Court held that the owner of a
damaged vehicle may prove and
recover the reasonable cost of
repairs provided that the cost of
the repairs does not exceed the
diminution in market value or the
fair market value of the vehicle
before the damage was sustained.
What I was concerned about (that doesn't appear to apply to Ohio), there are a few states, that have restrictions on what 'type' of DV, or that a certain calculation has to be used...appears Ohio, has none of these...so start your process.
