I want to start my own business as an independent insurance agency. I want to work from home on the first year so to see how it goes. I wondered if anybody out there has the same situation like me and what chances I have to become successful in this industry?

If you want to become an independent insurance agency, follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Do some Research: You need to find out the state's eligibility requirements for becoming an independent insurance agent. Generally you must be 18 years of age and must live in the place where you seek a license.
2. Get a degree: Although getting a degree is not an essential eligibility to become an independent agent, many independent agencies prefer candidates with a business or economics degree.
3. Choose a specialty: It is always better to focus on a specific aspect of the insurance industry. So make your choice of insurance.
4. Take the exam: You need to go through a state-approved licensing course and pass the state insurance examination before you can sell insurance as an independent agent.
5. Get affiliated with an insurance agency: You can still work as an independent agent after getting affiliated with an insurance company. You can also choose to work from home.
6. Do some Marketing: Let People know of your services as you may not be so well known since you are working as an independent agent.
