You need a bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration along with proficiency in accounting if you want to join this profession. To become an insurance agent officially, you need to have the state license for which you need to pass the state exam. This exam tests your accounting knowledge and understanding of insurance laws and ethics. You need to clear separate exams for life insurance and asset insurance licenses.

NO STATE requires any kind of degree in order to obtain an insurance license. A particular insurer or agency that might hire you may require a bachelor's degree, but there isn't a single state that makes this a requirement.

In order to obtain an insurance license:
1. You must be at least 18 years of age.
2. You cannot have committed any act that would be grounds for action on or revocation of an insurance license
3. You must take any prelicense education required by your state, unless exempt (you aren't) and successfully pass the required examination.
4. You must pay the fees that are required and pass several levels of criminal background checks.

That's just about it. Nothing more to it!
