i was awarded 15,000 dollars in an accident.i have umi coverage of 100,000 on my policy is the award enough to collect the rest?

Only if the other person's carrier paid their policy limits. Otherwise they were not "under insured" for your loss.

Also, one of the requirements on your auto policy is that you _not_ settle your injury claim for the limits of the other person's BI policy without first getting permission from your own UIM carrier. Your UIM carrier would assume your right of recovery against the at fault party for anything they pay out under UIM. They usually either protect that right by paying you the BI carriers limits or they waive their right to collect which allows you to accept the BI carriers limits.
