You can look into the financial files of the other party or talk to his friends and colleagues to find out the name of the service provider.

Hi bigredholbrook,

How did you get the policy number without knowing the name of the company? I am asking this because the source from where you got the name and the number might be able to tell you the name of the insurer too. If not, then this might be quite a time consuming task and a little difficult too. You may start by taking help from your insurance agent. If he is willing to help, you may give him the name and number to see if he can identify. Often, agents become familiar with policy numbers if they have dealt with the policy holder a number of times. You may also call major insurance companies in your area and ask them to look for the policy number that you have. This might require a lot of effort on your part, but you may still try since you do not have too many choices.

You may even call the DMV with the pertinent information. They maintain a record of policies for registered automobiles. They might help you. You may need the help of your insurance agent in this regard.

I agree with Sil. That would be the two routes I would go.

Well you've got the name of the guy..try to find a phone number or address (google-anywho.com etc) Did you happen to get the license plate number of the car? If you'd like you can post the policy number here and we can see if anyone here has a clue..what state are you in?

Veronica....how would you expect the OP to accomplish this? Tell you what you post your bank acct numbers, and then give me the 'financial files' of your co-workers and second cousins, then we'll talk  :x I'm sorry but this makes absolutely NO sense.
