does short term disability count as part of base salary quarters when applying for unemployment or do they only count prior to going out on short term disability? Do i need to call short term and tell them. If long term disability is denied by LTD agency contracted with job can i apply for unemployment?

If you are unable to get long term disability, you can apply for unemployment benefits provided you meet certain weekly eligibility requirements like being physically and mentally able to work and also seeking a job. You must also be financially eligible to seek unemployment benefits.

I'm in a similar situation, can you guide me on what are the criteria for getting unemployment benefits? will the authorities not offer the benefits if i already have disability income?

The following are the eligibility requirements for receiving unemployment benefits:

1. You must be financially eligible

2. You must be financially or totally unemployed.

3. You must give suitable reasons for being unemployed. The law imposes a disqualification on certain types of job loss. You are eligible if you have been laid off due to lack of work. But if you have voluntarily quit your job, you might be considered for the benefits.

4. You must be physically and mentally able to work, available for work and also actively seeking a job.

5. You must also have covered 680 hours of employment in your base year to qualify for a claim.
