I have been with an insurence company for many many years

and I had always paid them on time Never late they just took it out of my checking account.... Well my insurence agent talked into buying a life insurence policy when I got a new car. She told me that it was only going to be 23 dollars a month and I said that would be ok but I didnt want to pay anymore than that for life insurence because I am only 27. I got into a slight jam and they could not automatically draw out my life ins. from my bank, which I was not aware of. I am going to pay my bills and I see a bill that is ALMOST IDENTICAL to my auto insurence bill and it says PAST DUE $282.00 I was a month late for my auto for the first time ever so in good faith I paid that 282 dollars thinking that it was my auto . Come to find out after I wrecked my car and spent 6 days in the hospital in ICU with a brocken back, My 30 thousand dollar car I have only had four four months was not covered because my policy lapsed. I was complettly shocked and had no clue that I paid the life insurence when in good faith I was meaning to pay my auto. I call my agent because she knew that I didnt want to pay more than 25 bucks month on life ins. and was going to ask her to help me fix this problem because we had a fairly good relationship. ....Well I find out that she no longer works there. I tried to get anyone to help me and they all turned me down...So needless to say I have 25,000 in medical bills and a 30,000 dollar car to pay for and no wat to pay it because I am bed ridden and now I have NO vehichle to even transport me to a job. It has been one of the worst experiences of my life. I am a single mother and I thought I was protecting my child or anyone else from debt if I Happened to die. The bills were very deciving and this life insurence has COST me more than anything I have ever purchased in my lifetime!!!! What should I do??

Unfortunately I don't see anything you can do...other than maybe declare bankruptcy, and I'm certainly no expert on that..Don't know even if you can...

First off let me say, that I'm truely sorry you're in this position. Having said that......

I was complettly shocked and had no clue that I paid the life insurence when in good faith I was meaning to pay my auto

Here's the problem..you didn't read the bill very well, because all auto policy bills I've seen say 'auto' policy somewhere on them. You knew you were already a month over due. If this is the case you would've received a cancelation notice... I do my auto premiums as well, but I still get a renewal every six months. It's sad and it's tough, but this is all on you..I can't honestly say how a life policy premiums statement reads, because like you I've always had them checking acct. deducted. But can bet it has the named insured listed on it somewhere, and most likely the policy value. .I see nothing that the carrier did wrong. You just paid the bill quickly without looking it over well, and made a mistake that is truely unfortunate.

Let me ask you this. Did you hit or damage another vehicle or property, or people? If so that's probably going to be your toughest hurdle. Has your lein holder came and got your (wrecked) car? Did you not have health insurance to take care of your medical bills?

You were the driver correct? Was the accident your fault? Do these passengers have auto insurance?
