State farm Insurace keeps going up every year, please let me know what companies are rated the best

Progressive has competitive rates, but the key is to make sure that the coverages being quoted are the same. A lot of companies will reduce coverage or increase deducibles to lower the pricing. Make sure the quote is explained to you so you can match up the coverages that you have with the coverages that are being quoted. When you have a quote presented to you, have your current declarations page in front of you and make the agent doing the quoting go over each line to make sure the quote is "apples for apples" and you are not being short changed. People don't realize that sometimes it is more cost effective to have more coverage than less coverage.

IMO don't look just for the cheapest rate in the market, even after an "apples-to-apples" comparison. Usually the cheapest vendor will start hiking your premium at every given opportunity with the flimsiest of reasons. Go for a professional and reliable company that is also financially stable. That way you have all your bases covered. You can check (link removed by lori) They are probably amongst the most cost effective auto insurers today.

See an Independent agent in your area, they generally represent several companies and can find one that is right for your needs. Of course check some captive agents as well to compare. But look at more than just the price.
Progressive cant help you will Home Insurance but a good independent can access several companies that offer home and auto discounts like State Farm does for you now. Travelers, AAA, Safeco, Hartford are all good options.

Most companies have online quoting systems that will show you the cost of their policy once you fill in the required information. It's time consuming, but can answer most of your questions.
