hey every one thanks for reading, this is what happened;
i was going to make a left turn on an intersection (i had no other cars coming the opposite way since it was a green arrow traffic signal), the signal had just turned green when i heard an ambulance ( i stopped with given time,3-4-5 seconds before it got to were i was), the car behind me supposedly also heard it and stopped, a third car was the one that hit him, and he hit me. my car was totaled from behind, also the engine was totaled(66 vw bug). my mom was riding with me, fortunately no major injuries (just a sprain for both our necks and upper back, i dont know if i should go to a chiropractor).
important details;
-i live in california (city of bellflower)
-this was my first accident and i was real nervous, i called the 911 and a cop showed up he made a report,(he gave me a report memo, supposedly i have to pick up the report in 2 days)
-this car is under my name, but my dad has it insured under his, i am excluded from his policy (this is what really worries me).
-fortunately no car was in front of me, so i dint hit anyone.
-the accident happened on 3/4/2010, i havent done anything (i dont know what to do)
-i go to school every day and i really relied on my buggy, some one told me i should rent a car and charge it on the person who is at fault.
-sorry for making this so long, but thanks for reading
i will greatly appreciate any advice tips or suggestions

ONLY, if he has 'excluded' you formally on the policy...which frankly won't have anything to do with this claim, since it should all be paid by the 'great' driver that slammed into the guy behind you. -the accident happened on 3/4/2010, i havent done anything (i dont know what to do)
Well honey, have you not contacted your ins. company or the at fault guys company? Let your carrier know...then if you haven't got the police report get it and contact his/her company and turn in a claim, YESTERDAY.-i go to school every day and i really relied on my buggy, some one told me i should rent a car and charge it on the person who is at fault.
Well, technically yes, but you need to make sure they have a good policy first...You've not heard from any of the other ins carriers involved?
Do you have collision coverage on your vehicle? Where is it now?

i am formally excluded from my dads insurance, my car has only liability insurance and my car is on a public parking lot with current tags

Yes, pick up a copy of the police report and report it to the other carrier. While I'd think the middle person would have reported it already, the driver that caused the accident might not have called his carrier so they may not even know about the accident.

ok...the exclusion shouldn't hurt you THIS time...but son, you got to stop driving that car! Do you understand that as an excluded driver on that policy, had you been the one that was at fault..your carrier wouldn't have paid sqaut to the cars/people damaged? That would be ALL on you! (in my state anyway) Why on earth are your parents allowing you to drive this vehicle when they have excluded you? You're flirting with danger son, seriously. And so are your parents....consider this one of those 'man, I could've really screwed up my life, but got a second chance' moments. :wink: :roll:
As T and I have said, get the report and get this filed, with the at fault carrier, and hope that driver wasn't driving a vehicle they too were excluded on :wink: ...nevermind about talking with your carrier...
