Is insurancy policy void?

My husband passed one month ago. 14 years ago his grandfather took a life insurance policy out and named my husbands mother as beneficiary. Grandfather was the owner of the policy. 11 years ago grandfather passed and paperwork was never filed to change owners. Will my mother in law still recieve benefits from this policy? She has been making the premium payments but the owner has been deceased for 11 years. She was just the beneficiary. Is this policy void?
