what companies would I talk to about liability coverage for a DBA tree trimming and removal company (no worker's comp desired as all employees are owners and therefore not covered)

You haven't mentioned anything regarding the place you're in.

Please go through the following link- ampminsure.org/start/trimming-business-insurance.html
I've also found out the following insurance carrier-
Shifflett Insurance, Inc.

Cedar Rapids, IA 52402

Toll Free: 800-584-7012
Fax: 319-398-7461
(They're serving across 8 states)

You wouldn't talk to the companies, you would talk to an agent/broker. This may be a risk that has to be "exported" to a nonadmitted insurer as "surplus lines" insurance.

Are you the only "worker" doing the tree trimming? I seriously doubt it. Those who you employ would need to be covered by a Workers' Comp policy. When you say all "employees are owners" do you mean a partnership, LLC, or corporation? Doesn't mean you can't have a workers' comp policy, just may not be required by law (like a sole proprietor).
