My husband does not smoke, but blood test came back with a p

My husband does not smoke, but blood test came back with a positive for nicotine. No one smokes at home...only some guys at work which he doesn't see every day. Why should my husband be penalized for someone's habit? Can the life insurance companies get away with that?
