Our previous cat ripped our Berber carpet in every doorway of our home (bedrooms and closets). He would go into a room, close the door behind him, and then rip up the carpet when he couldn't get out. Because it was looped carpet, there are large spots missing. Will our insurance company cover this? If so, will they cover a repair or will we need to replace all the carpet?

No, your policy will not cover this sort of damage caused by your cat to your property, because it was entirely preventable, not accidental. On the other hand, had it been your neighbor's cat, you could have filed a claim against your neighbor's homeowner's policy.
If while ripping up the carpet, your cat inadvertently knocks over a candle, setting fire to the house, that's a different story.
Encouraging your cat to set fire to the house, however, is probably conspiracy to commit arson, a felony. You would go to prison, and the cat would probably die in the fire.
