my car is old, high miles and numerous scratches and dents. A woman backed into my car and did $477.90 of damage. my car is worth $500.00 to $800.00. I am afraid her insurance company will want to total my car. I do not want to give it up. It runs great. 119,000 miles and only in the shop once. If they want to total my car can i refuse to settle. If i do not sign anything or take money can i walk away/

Several different possibilities but a vehicle that is running is worth at least $500. If it's a total loss then it depends on your state guidelines on how it's handled. Some states don't require a salvage title is the vehicle is worth under a certain amount. Some would require that the title be changed. Once a determination is made, go from there. No one can throw the money at you and take the vehicle. They need to have your permission.
