On a D&O policy, what is the difference between a "pending and prior litigation date" and "retro" date?

If I understand your question, "pending and prior" has to do with covering legal action that is or was underway for something covered under a previous policy/policy period. The "retro" probably refers to legal action newly begun during the current policy period but the cause of action occurred in a prior policy period. There are time limitations on such claims to be covered by an existing policy, but might still be covered under a former policy.
