I fell in a Kangaroo gas station and got cut and sprained my ankle because someone dropped a 40 oz beer. The store clerk commented that he knew it was there. Kangaroo wants to settle and has asked me to think of a monetary amount and call them back. I don't have a clue on what to ask for.

Did you seek medical attention for your injuries? If so, did you pay out of pocket or file a claim with your insurer?

I have been to the chiropractor and kangaroo told me to submit all my bills and they also said they would pay for my lost wages and they also told me to come up with an extra monetary amount, i guess for pain and suffering. But what I'd like to know of is what is what amount is reasonable. What do you think they will pay without having to go to court, $10,000, $7500 or $5000. I'm hate to ask for $5000 when they would have easily paid $10,000

It all depends on your location, injury, extent of treatment, age, recovery time, mitigating factors, etc.
It sounds to me like you had a soft tissue injury. I'm guessing probably 1-2 months of medical treatment from the chiro. Without knowing _all_ of the info above or even the cost of your medical treatment I'll mention a _wild_ guess. If your treatment cost $2000 I'd say a good settlement range would be from $2700-$4000. That is a _wild_ guess based on almost no info. This includes the $2000 in meds.

All you have to do is to count on your expenses and get the total. You must attach all bills together. Don't forget to consult your doctor regarding the possibility of other future treatments.

Wait a second...where (on your body) did you get cut? Did it require stitches? Will you have a scar? If so, how old are you and woman or man? (yes, it can make a HUGE difference)

You need to get a lawer. Go to one that has free consults. Only hire one that takes 25% or less of your settlement and on contingency (which means they get paid when you get paid). Make sure you ar totally healed before you settle...if that's possible, but you must think about what damage you may have in the future from this injury. There are ways they figure amounts according to how old you ae and the trouuble you may have or the bills you may incur later on in your life from these injuries. Don't settle without a lawyer...but shop around and ask people who know lawyers that are honest and hard working. You need representation, even though they have to be paid...you'll get more in the end. I'm not trying to be greedy and sue for things you aren't entitled to, but settling too soon can cause you problems in the future. I am speaking from experience :o) Good luck and God Bless!

cut and sprained my ankle
I know that this was from back in May, but I must have missed it. And since someone else started it back up, i had to comment. OP sprained her ankle and got a cut. Why then a chiro?

Soft tissue injury. The muscle and ligaments can benefit from manipulations. Well, that and a chiro will pretty much treat anything.

Plus they have the uncanny ability to locate with their fingers those soft tissue injuries that cannot be found on any CT scan or MRI images. Amazing how that can aid an attorney in the pursuit of a PI or WC claim.
