You can't MAKE them repair a vehicle if it's more economical for them to totally it. You don't say what year your escalade is, you've got the option to retain the salvage (assuming your lein holder will let you)..another thing, just because your payoff is 22k doesn't mean that's what they will be paying on a total loss..they owe you the ACV(actual cash value)...not a penny more..if the ACV is 10, 15, 30k, that's what they are paying, minus your comp deductible that is.

Do you really want your car back? You will be driving yourself, family members ( perhaps children) in this vehicle and how safe is going to be? As an auto appraiser, I would take the money and run. perhaps the airbags were stolen and this is a very difficult, technical and costly repair which will usually total a vehicle by itself. Personally, I would not trust repaired airbag systems especially when original manufacturer installed installed airbags don't always work. Perhaps it was abused and the transmission will never be the same or the electrical system? This car may be a death trap after this incident that is one reason why the insurance company wants nothing to do with it, do you? Go out and buy a Subaru and it will never get stolen...

Typically I would agree with you, however the damages are cosmetic, the engine, transmission, electrical is vertually untouched, the theifs were after the interior non tracible components and the when they were stolen they did not cut a single wire everything was unplugged. the only damage was the ignition key assembly and I stuck my key in and started the car. Yes the door eas damaged at the key entry minor door damage the door will have to be repainted
The body and engine is in great shap, the estimate is 6 grand under the payoff. I'm unimployed and cant afford a new one and to buy one from someopne else I can't garentee the engine transmission and electrical. When the car as stolen in was out of my driveway about 24 hours befor it was found
I understand all the statistics and thats whats making the decission, My wife and I are not statistics and I think State Farm is taking the easy way out and One field estimater went out to look at the car in the salvage yard.
43 years with state farm and I'm just a statistic, I bet that they can create a site where the customer just inputs the information the statistics calculate the outcome and you reeive a check - eliminate the whole claimes office the outcome would be the same

I'm sorry, have you asked them about 'retaining' the vehicle? That's probably your only other option at this point. Also State Farm is a captive agent company...call your agent get him/her on your side, have him call the claims dept...see if that helps (it will if the agent is big enough  )
