If I have medicaid will I still get med pay?

I was told by my insurance company that I will not get med pay if I have medicaid. I can't see why that would be true! So I am curious to know and how can they tell if I have medicaid or not?

Because medicaid will (presumeably) pay the bill(s) and your carrier is required to pay them back...

how can they tell if I have medicaid or not?

WHAT ? How could you not know if you're on medicaid or not? Medicaid is government provided health coverage (for lack of a better discription). What do you when you go to the doctor or to pickup prescriptions? Do you hand them a 'medicaid' card? Or do you have private (or no) health insurance?

This was posted under Auto Insurance so I guess that is what the Med Pay is coming from... also no state was mentioned and this could change everything. So their is really no way of knowing.

Were they correct? If so, there must be some way.

Medicare laws have recently changed requiring insurance companies to notify Medicare before making _any_ injury payments. The fine is $1000/day for every day it's not done. I know Medicaid is different but I also know that some insurance companies use 3rd parties to perform this notification (law firms usually). Perhaps they also check with Medicaid.

My understanding (in my state, and the co. I work for anyway)...is medicare, and medicaid are treated the same, as far as notification, and payment...AND penality
