you answered a question of mine before, I have one more! I was recently backed into while driving my g/f's car. We live together. The insurance of the person who hit me-paid. But, the check is in my name and not my g/f's name who is the registered owner of the car. I read somewhere once that if something like this happens the insurance company must send a check to the right person...that once a check go's out they can't change it? Can you tell me your thoughts on this?

I'm not as good looking as Lori (trust me on this one) but they can most certainly correct the situation. They can place a stop payment on the check and reissue it... or you can return it and they can reissue it. It should be made payable to the owner of the vehicle and not the driver... their error... but I know of few adjusters, myself included, that remember to verify who the owner is.
