Was in auto accident this week - car total loss

I was rear ended 4 days ago, and am in pain, although catcan was negative (thank god).
driver that hit me claimed fault and negligence.
My car was totalled, it was paid off, and if I brought it used today, it's between 4.5k and 5.5k.
How much can I expect from his insurance to reimburse for the car?

Also, I was advised to seek a lawyer since it was due to negligence. Is that even worth it?

Whatever the current market value or ACV (actual cash value) is for your area or areas that surround you. This is/can be very different from what a dealer and/ or private seller may advertise as a sale price. It would be benefical for you to locate a vehicle(s) that matches yours in model, condition, miles, options etc. so that you will know if the amount they present to you, is either accurate or inaccurate.

Is that even worth it?

Do you think you will need one?

Advised by whom? and if you think you need one and want to hand over atleast 33.3% of all you get..sure..

You shouldnt need an attorney to settle the property damage for your vehicle and, Lori is right, if you get an attorney for your injury claim (assuming you have to make one) the attorney will generally want 1/3 of the total amount paid out by the insurance company.
However, if your injuries are serious enough you may want to consult an attorney. The insurance company and its representatives are going to do everything they can do to protect their interests. Which means settle as fast and as inexpensively as they possibly can. In more serious claims, you may want to consider having someone available to be certain that your interests are protected. From an objective standpoint (not an attorney or a claims rep), there are times when an attorney is needed. More often with some companies than others.
That being said, hopefully you will feel a lot better in the next few days and this will be a mute point for you.
I would be sure to tell your adjuster that you are hurting, just so they are aware.
