Have a car insured by geico.
I purchased/registered/insured the car for my own use.
My brother, who lives at another address then needed a car for a 2-3 week period, and i permitted him to take my car, with the understanding that it would be returned to me, and that the car would only be used temporarily.
fast forward a week and a half, he gets into a single car, his fault, no injury, just car damage accident.
the accident occurred out of the state that we both reside in, a police report was filed, no charges or citations issued, just a simple mistake at the wheel on his part.
will insurance most likely approve the claim for repair?
does getting the car fixed in it's current location (out of home state) complicate things greatly?
thanks in advance...

If your coverage includes "collision" coverage, you should have no problem -- unless your brother is an unlicensed driver. I assume he has no personal auto policy of his own?
Where the accident occurred is not material as long as it was not in Mexico more than 25 miles from the border.

OP here, thanks for the quick response.
have collision coverage, and the accident damage to the car is going to be under the coverage limit, so no worries there i suppose.
brother is licensed, has no car of his own and therefore no insurance. in all honestly him using the car was/is a completely unforeseen circumstance, and therefore it was only a temporary, short term arrangement.
i can assume we are going to get some grief from geico though, even though we had no malicious or fraudulent intentions.
if i make monthly payments on my 6 month quote of insurance, does that mean they can drop me before the 6 month period?

OP here again, sorry for all the questions.
will our insurance company be okay with getting the repairs done where my brother currently resides (where the accident occurred)? he will be there long enough for the repairs to be assessed and made.

You should have no trouble with GEICO, and it is unlikely they would cancel your coverage in the aftermath. An accident is an accident. Fraud is something else.
Allowing GEICO to recommend a repair shop in the location of your choosing will at least guarantee the repairs to your satisfaction. Have your brother initiate the claim with GEICO, they'll contact you for information, and you can discuss how/where to have the repairs made at that time.

thanks again for your insight :).
i was just worried that the insurance company would do something like requesting the car be transported back to my location for repair etc...
The policy is relatively new, so i am a bit afraid of being dropped by them, but we shall see.
