To make auto repairs, do I need to contact the lien holder to cash it and then pay the body shop I selct. Or just give the check to the body shop and expect them to reimburse the Ins. Co. ?

I am assuming that your name and the lein holder is on this check. You will need to either get them to reissue the check in your name or to the body shop. This will require either the work to be completed along with the shop's invoice of repair, or a signed work authorization from the shop. Most shop's will not take a check made out to them, so communicate with the shop as to what they will accept.
Or just give the check to the body shop and expect them to reimburse the Ins. Co.
They won't do this.
