Requirements in Applying For Cheap Auto Insurance

The importance of car insurance should not be undermined by drivers on the road. Many studies have shown that more and more people encounter accidents while driving. This is why applying for cheap California auto insurance coverage is a must for people who want to drive.

But before you look for cheap California auto insurance on the web, you must first know some important requirements:

1. The state of California has its own guidelines for car insurance coverage. There is a minimum coverage required by the government that states the 15-30-5 rule. This means you would need a minimum of $15,000 to cover physical injuries and even death of the person, additional $30,000 for any physical injuries and death of more than one person and $5,000 to cover for property damage.

2. As you begin to ask for insurance quotes, you or the insurance company will need to pull out your driving records. Having DUI cases on your record will not help at all especially if you want to get approved for insurance coverage with lower premiums. It is best to keep your driving records clean to make sure that you avail of lower premiums and get approved for your insurance application immediately.

3. You may also encounter questions and fill up forms regarding the vehicle that you drive. If you have installed security gadgets and safety features, then you will most likely get approved for insurance coverage with lower premiums. The model of your car is also part of the company's consideration in giving you coverage. They need this information to assess the risk related in insuring your vehicle.

Remember that it is not difficult to apply for cheap California auto insurance. However, you must remember these requirements so that you have some guidelines as you begin the process of your application. Get quotes from different companies and later on compare the coverage, the price of the premium and the payment terms to know which one of these companies you will choose. Make sure that you follow these guidelines in order for you to get approved easily and avail of discounted premium

Excuse me...but, you say "California Auto Insurance." Is that the actually name of the Insurance company? Or...are you saying the Insurance company is in California? The word 'cheap' can have different meanings.

Dearest Helpyouguys . . .

You don't really believe what you wrote, do you? "Cheap insurance" is not a must, but proof of financial responsibility is required to register a vehicle and operate it on the public roads in California. State law simply permits a minimum of 15/30/5 liability insurance as opposed to a $30,000 bond or cash deposit. But drivers who operate motor vehicles in California (or anywhere else for that matter) with only minimum liability limits deceive themselves into thinking they are "covered". But you do a genuine disservice to readers of your post with the misinformation you provide.

15/30 according to your math = $45,000 in coverage. That's a $15,000 mistake. Continue to advise your clients in this manner (assuming you have an insurance license -- care to reveal yours as I do mine?) and your E&O carrier will not be happy when the claims begin to arrive.

"15/30" means $15,000 per person, $30,000 per accident maximum coverage for bodily injury liability claims, which could include death.

You may also encounter questions and fill up forms regarding the vehicle that you drive. If you have installed security gadgets and safety features, then you will most likely get approved for insurance coverage with lower premiums.

You begin by speaking of California minimum liability limits. Now you've switched gears to other-than-collision coverage. Hope you don't think these "gadgets" will have any effect on the premiums for liability coverage, minimum or otherwise.

Remember that it is not difficult to apply for cheap California auto insurance. However, you must remember these requirements so that you have some guidelines as you begin the process of your application

An agent worth his or her commission check would never advise a client to obtain only the minimum amount of liability coverage. And when applying for auto insurance online, a person could not apply for less. So what needs to be remembered has not been said. Now read on . . .

Increasing coverage from minimum limits to more reasonable limits of $50,000/$100,000/$25,000 or $100,000/$300,000/$50,000 adds so little by comparison to the cost of $15,000/$30,000/$5,000 minimums that most persons who only pay for the minimums would be shocked if they only knew it. One of the hazards of "do-it-yourself" insurance by the uninformed. Using the services of an insurance agent or broker will generally save a person money in the long run -- especially when that major accident occurs and the proper coverage is in place.

MAX...I've never known anyone that could ask for LESS coverage, than they are allowed by Law. Why would any consumer want to?! I thought I misunderstood that, when I was initially reading the OP post.

That's a $15,000 mistake

That's a REAL big difference!!

You're right, they cannot. But I don't know where you got that idea from, because neither the OP nor I said anything like that.

When I mentioned a $15,000 mistake, I was referring to the OP's explanation of 15/30, which says that you get $15,000 for injuries to one person and AN ADDITIONAL $30,000 for injuries to two or more. It's one or the other, not both. As I wrote: $15,000 per person, $30,000 per accident (meaning two injured persons or 100 injured persons).

It's also possible to have one accident now, injuring two persons, and ten minutes later, drive down the street and have a second accident, injuring two persons, and if each of the four persons has exactly $15,000 in damages, the policy would pay $60,000. Because the $30,000 limit is PER ACCIDENT.

California also has a state-mandated "Low Cost Auto Insurance Program" begun several years ago, operating in many counties already and eventually to be offered statewide, which allows slightly lower minimum limits than even 15/30/5. There are maximum income requirements that must be met for a driver to qualify.

This is a different program than the CA Automobile Assigned Risk Program (CAARP) designed for drivers faced with challenges to obtaining insurance in the standard market. It is intended for drivers with acceptable records who do not have the financial means to obtain a standard policy. (And that's despite all the ads that appear in the Pennysaver, newspapers, and on billboards which claim that one can obtain auto insurance for just $17 per month!!) Even the CA Low Cost Auto Insurance Program costs a minimum of about $450 per year, far more than $17 per month.
