my wife recently died. and my inlaws are providing child care, so i was wondering if i could by a term life policy on them. to pay for child care expenses should they die before the children turn 18.

There is insurable interest there, so as long as they are willing to cooperate in the application process, and are insurable, it should not be a challenge.

As Max has said there is a logical insurable interest in this case. Your agent should be able to clarify the situation with whatever company from which you buy the policy.

I do empathize with your situation.

There shouldn't be any problem with that. Ultimately it's for the wellbeing of a child, so they shouldn't have any problem with it too.
