This certificate was issued in 1882 by the Knights of Honor Mutual Aid Association of Louisville, Kentucky on the life of my wife's great grandfather who died in 1906. The value was $3000. It is the original certificate with the gold seal and was never cashed in. Records indicate that the Knights of Honor Mutual Aid Association was "disbanded" in 1916. There was also the Knights and Ladies of Honor, also of Louisville, Kentucky, which was taken over by North American Mutual Life Assurance in 1916. I need to know if the certificate has value and if possibly the Knights of Honor was rolled into the Knights and Ladies of Honor before the takeover. Can you help?

The like answer is there's nothing to be collected. Best place to start looking is your state department of insurance. They can potentially help direct you. Trying to track down the company that ultimately took responsibility for this policy will prove rather difficult.
