My Mother, God rest her soul, left me as the sole benefactor of her tiny $6,000 life insurance policy, with CLEAR instructions on how to disperse it. Since my sister was not included, she is now threatening to sue me for inappropraite disperation of funds. Is this possible?

Can a sole benefactor be sued by siblings for insurance money that was left to me, and me alone?

See, while naming the beneficiaries it's important that the policyholder settles everything in writing. This will help him to avoid tricky situations.

Even when he doesn't mention the name of his beneficiary, he should make his beneficiary truly identifiable.

You can be sued for anything by anyone. What were the "clear" instructions left to you about dispersing the money? If these instructions were left to you by your late mother (in writing) there is little, if any your sister can do-even if she sues you.
