Hi all,
Was driving a rental car down a two way street, stopped at light, did not see any cross traffic and proceeded. I saw a vehicle approaching me on the driver's side at a high speed* as I was about a 1/4 of the way into the intersection (that vehicle was on a one-way street with a stop sign). I sped up to avoid the car, and my car ended up turning about 140 deg with the force of the collision.
*He is saying he stopped, but I don't see how that is possible? I went to the hospital because my head and left side of body banged into the side of car. He refused medical attention.
Again, it was a rental car (selected collision coverage for other parties) and I rented with my credit card (provides some basic coverage) and also have car insurance. Just beginning the process of talking with adjuster and could use some guidance with communications, and any tips.
Thanks,
CR

Okay... I have _no_ idea of the lay out of this intersection.
You say you stopped at a light. So you must have had a red light. The only direction I know of that you can go on a red light is a right turn. If you see a vehicle approaching on your drives side then you are going to turn in order to go the same direction as him. If you have a light... why would he have a stop sign? as I mentioned, your description is lacking.
What kind of "guidance" or "tips" are you looking for? You report the loss to your carrier and they handle it for you.
Was a police report filed? Were any citations issued?
If you have collision coverage then it probably transfers over to the rental. You will probably need to pay your collision deductible to the rental company.

So it was a 4 way stop intersection. You stopped and saw the other vehicle approaching from your left. You then started to make a right turn to travel the same direction when he hit the drivers side (?) of your car?
He says he stopped but you know that he did not?

was driving north on a two way street; was crossing intersection to continue straight ahead after stopping, when a vehicle on a one way street perpendicular to my street (w/stop sign) drove straight into me, on driver's side.
