I got a check for daughter for medical expensense from my car insurance. THey also had me sign a release form saying that they were not liable for any more money once they gave me the check. Now they are saying medicare told them they have paid toward the bill and they say they want to put a lien on check but checked has been cashed it this possible.

Is your daughter a Medicare beneficiary? If not, then it's possible that the claim was paid by Medicaid. Your own policy Med Pay coverage is known as "excess" -- meaning it pays only if other insurance does not. This includes state or federal insurance benefits.
So although there is nothing to put a lien on now that the check has been cashed, you might owe the money back to the insurer, and if you fail to pay it back, they could sue you for it.
