by Freddie » Mon Sep 06, 2010 12:25 am

I am writing an assignment due next week on types of General Insurance that should be included in a Package for the stunt artists; people who perform stunts on film sets, spectacular events, demonstrate extreme sports, and the like.

I need to explain also, why each type of cover is important. Please help me. I am stuck.

From Freddie's other post:

I am developing a package for stunt artists; people who perform stunts on film sets, spetacular events, demonstrate extreme sports, and the likes. I need to come up with details of the types of general insurance that should be included in the package.

Seems Freddie does not know what he's doing.

BTW - How can I get insurance for 1 day of catering?

Now don't be cruel!

To offer some assistance to Freddie, we need to know if you're asking about an employee or a contractor. If you're asking about the person who is being hired to perform a stunt as an employee, then that person is covered under Workers' Compensation laws, and has no need to bring insurance to the job.

On the other hand, if the stunt person is being hired to bring his skills to the movie set as a contractor, one who will furnish the "tools of the trade", then he may need a Commercial General Liability policy to cover an damage he does as the result of plying his trade. If he loses control of a car and slams unexpectedly into a building, causing damage, he might have to pay for those damages. The movie producer could also be liable in addition.

If the stunt person has employees, then he needs Workers' Compensation insurance for those persons.

He might need a surety bond to protect against failure to perform which causes other financial losses to persons other than himself. Such as the stunt person who is hired to do a particular stunt on a particular day, but finds himself in the hospital due to another stunt gone bad, and cannot perform his contracted duties. The surety bond would pay the party (movie/event producer) who hired the stunt person that cannot perform if they can prove there was a loss.

As for one-day catering insurance -- maybe hire a caterer who has paid for an entire year of protection instead.

Does this surety bond pay a flat amount? Or does it pay a pre-agreed percentage?
