How do we get insurance for our homeschool co-op?

We are starting a homeschool co-op and need insurance to be able to use the church and to go on field trips, etc. We are not a business. Just don't know what insurance to look for or how to get it since the one insurance guy said it wasn't possible. Thank you for your time.
