My license was suspended. I got my license back and now my employers insurance will not let me be covered on the policy for one year. Is that legal?

Life is not as pure and simple as Burger King likes to insist. There are some things in life that you just don't get your way. Insurance is one of them.

If the insurer has a provision that requires any driver must not have had a license suspension within the last twelve months, so be it. They write the contract and the employer agrees to abide by it. Nothing unlawful happening here.

It seems you'd need to bear it out-of-pocket for one whole year. Shop for it and make sure you have the required benefits under a policy that suits your budget. Also go through the agreement and know all the provisions for your own good.

Yeah it's legal, but make sure you check out the conditions when you join it next year. If you have any doubts clarify it beforehand.

(Putting in my '2 cents' here) I can understand the employee's point-of-view, on this. They need to 'cover' themselves, like any OTHER company would. I'm not saying anything aqainst you, OP. I'm just making a statement from a '3rd party', kind of thing. The comapny I work for, I do alot of driving. I drive 'clients' different places. When someone is hired, they look at you driving record, background check, etc. If you've had you DL suspended (even though you may have it back now), they can't hire you until so-long after you're re-instatement is made.

Yes, it is perfectly legal. Apparently the insurance company feels you are a higher risk than someone who has never committed an act that would result in the state suspending their driving privileges.
