Gosh..OP..I don't know what to say. I'm really sorry. Is it Life Insurance, you're asking about? In Life Insurance, I'm not sure what the 'suicide' clause would be, the 'waiting period', etc. How sad for your family.

I think the OP is looking for info regarding his/her cousin. I don't think any insurance will cover this loss if the mishap has taken place within 2 years of his application. But yeah, you need to go through the paperwork carefully. If required, you may consult with his insurance agent.

Group life most likely. Individual life if he's past the suicide period (first two years in most states).

The typical SUICIDE clause states that death as the result of suicide is not covered within the first two years from the policy effective date. (Colorado and Missouri are two states I know of that limit the suicide clause to one year -- and a few insurance companies voluntarily use one year in their policies nationwide).
If the policy, group or individual, has been in effect more than two years, there will be no issue at all.

What insurance... auto insurance (where you posted this question), life insurance, health insurance, etc?
Regardless, contact them and make a claim.
