have been on long term disability for 2 years after medical clearance when i am able to go back to work can I file for unemployemnt in New Jersey where I live?

I think one can file for unemployment only when he's laid off. If you're going back to work, I don't think you can do that. Get things clarified with your employer. Also, do keep us updated.

You can file, but you won't qualify. You have no qualifying earnings in the required period preceding your unemployment claim. You can still take advantage of other employment assistance services available from the agency.
