Auto insurance for a total loss car

Hi,

I have a car that involved in an accident. My car has been evaluated as a total loss by the insurance company. However, I would like to keep my car. Will I have any trouble in buying insurance or state inspection for my car in the future?
My car was hit from the passenger side, so it is repairable.

Thanks,

You may have a problem registering the vehicle. Ask the insurance company if they are going to report any info to the state. Then find out from the DMV what you'd need to have done in order to register a vehicle based on the info from the insurance company.

Most states' laws require the insurer to report a total loss to the DMV which can reissue title to a "SALVAGE" vehicle to you. As for passing a state inspection, that's going to be up to the inspector.

Does it mean that the inspector can pass it anytime? Or is it that the inspection takes place after a fixed period of time?

Usually the inspection is needed before the vehicle can be registered again.
