No one else will know either... as it differs from state to state. Why not ask your adjuster?

If you caused your own loss, your AUTO insurance will not compensate you for your lost wages.
If your damages were caused by a third party, the answer is as tcope has stated above. You should be entitled to 100% of your aftertax wage loss courtesy of a third-party's insurance company, minus any benefits you have received from any other disability insurance program/policy.

In certain states, PIP package coverage will pay for the insured's wage loss, up to a statutory maximum, even if the wreck is the insured's fault. What state are you in, OP?

My bad . . . no such thing as PIP in California. But aside from any PIP coverage, no other component of a personal auto policy will compensate an insured for wage loss due to their 1st party injuries.

UMBI/UIMBI would as well.

Not for an at-fault accident. Tcope, you knew that. UMBI/UMPD is if it's the other guy's fault and he doesn't have coverage.

Who said the OP was at fault? Also, the statement is correct for what was posted.

There is no indication either way as to whose fault the accident was. My responses were based on the assumption that this was a first party claim, in which case UMBI would not pay for such loss of wages.
I based my assumption of first party fault on the utter lack of attribution to a third party. Most of the posts we see are on the order of: "I was stopped and the other guy ran into me . . ." or "I rear-ended another car . . ."
This post simply starts by saying "I had a car accident . . ."
It's kind of like Clinton and Lewinsky. It was clear, after the revelation of the DNA "deposits" that someone had a sexual encounter with her. When William Jefferson had earlier wagged his left index finger at the camera and said "I did not have sex with that woman", he did not say "I had no contact with that woman." It was clear that there was some sort of first-party involvement in all the partying that went on.

A 3rd party does not make a UMBI claim... a 1st party does (the insured... who is a 1st party). Best way to look at UMBI is that is's a 3rd party payment to a 1st party.

Understood and agreed, and response posted as such. The EVENT that causes the loss must be the fault of a third party.
I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. Everything you've said is true, and everything I said (aside from the little slip of the fingers over PIP) is also.
However, you keep looking at the OP as other-than-the-at-fault party. It's not certain that this was the case, as I've tried to indicate.
And as I've said, until the OP returns and let's us know whether he was AT FAULT for his damages OR NOT, there will be no resolution to the responses all have provided.
