If you don't already have the health insurance policy, the answer is NO. Your surgery will be excluded as a PREEXISTING CONDITION.

It high time that we learn more about the purpose as to why 'insurance' exists. Insurance is not aimed to cover our damages, rather it's there to protect us from unforeseen risks. The knee problem that your pointing at is probably an existing and hence can't be termed as an unforeseen risk anymore.

There aren't too many policies that cover pre-existing risks. There are some that cover such conditions, but you need to be careful and read through the terms and conditions before you sign up!
